The Cat Came Back

Only this time it wasn’t the cat, it was Scrappy the dog.  The king of runaways can’t manage to find himself a suitable home so he will once again hang with us for a short while.  Likely a very short while.  We will try once again tomorrow to rehome him, maybe we will have better luck than we did this weekend when he got overly excited about Toni and Jordan’s dogs right as he was on his way out the door.

Twice Bike Riding Age

June 29th, 2009 judd No comments

The entire fam went out and got bikes this weekend.  Aria already had a bike, but she needed some new training wheels and a helmet.  Ellie, after much deliberation and prodding, settled on a baby blue  Novara comfort from REI.  I actually ended up liking the Novara mountain bike so we both stuck with the REI brand.  We didn’t get to ride them much this weekend, but Aria is pretty stoked about her helmet and now that Mom and Dad have bikes, she is happy to ride hers everywhere.  Now I am on the hunt for a bike trailer for Summer.  I found quite a few this weekend, but I couldn’t get across town to check them out and they all got gobbled up.  Coincidentally, Ellie’s sister and her whole family all bought brand new bikes this weekend too.  They all headed up to Frisco and road the trail to Breck.  Nice!

Pink Burger

June 24th, 2009 judd No comments

Today I had lunch at Rock Bottom in Englewood.  We sat outside under a big red canopy that made you feel like you were sitting inside a dark room.  I was having a hard time eating my burger because every time I looked down at it I thought it was completely raw.  Inevitably I couldn’t eat it anymore.

Ellie has been taking the kids to Elitch’s and Water World a lot this summer already.  They kids are finally starting to really enjoy the water.  Aria had a little accident last week, but today she swam across the kiddie wave pool (with the assistance of a life preserver).

I busted Summer trying to lay down grafiti on our front room wall tonight.  She is pretty stealthy about slipping out of a room with a few crayons in hand.  Last week she colored nearly her entire body with markers.

We had a bit of a scare with the baby sitter yesterday.  Aria went with the kids to Tae Kwan Do and nearly lost her finger in a door.  She has a nasty gash where her finger was pinched and she is pretty lucky to still have five digits on her left hand.

All this talk about Water World and injuries reminds me of a minor injury that Ellie suffered while swimming a few weeks back.  Even after having her describe the situation and step me through the sequence of events that led up to the injury I am still not quite sure how she managed to get a bruise between her cheeks ;)

Successful 4th

Aria had a blast (pun intended) with the marshmallow guns. We only had one injury – I didn’t realize a marshmallow could leave such a nasty welt.

Good father’s day too. The wife took good care of me. I think I am still full from my man sized breakfast bathed in sausage gravy this morning! :)

Marshmallow Cannons

June 21st, 2009 judd No comments

Today we built cannons out of PVC for the marshmallow shoot-off that is taking place tomorrow in honor of Aria’s birthday and Father’s Day. Aria helped apply the colored electrical tape while Summer did her impersonation of The Incredible Hulk trying to lift the garage door. Oh, and it rained again today. I have never had so many mushrooms in my grass. This has been the soggiest summer of all time in Denver.
